My Tomato Soup Recipe Confession
I’m going to let you in on a little secret… I cheated… I used my tomato soup recipe to snag my husband!
Back when I was dating Sir CB and knew he was a keeper, I pulled out the big guns to win his heart. We all know the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and he was no exception. So I pulled my tomato soup recipe out of my arsenal.
I invited him over for a light dinner on a cold winter’s night. The tomato soup was simmering on the stove while I grilled the smoked cheddar cheese sandwiches. Soft music playing in the background as I was preparing the
trap dinner. When every thing was ready I served it up. Lock & load!
When that first spoonful hit his mouth the look of rapture on his face let me know I had scored! I think he would have proposed to me right then and there if his mouth hadn’t been full. He’ll claim it was my personality that won his heart but I know otherwise !
Tomato Soup Recipe
2 tbsp. Butter
¼ cup + 1 tbsp. All Purpose Flour
½ cup Cooking Sherry
64 oz. Tomato Juice
Salt & Pepper
1 tsp. Sugar
Over medium heat melt butter in a large saucepan.
Sprinkle flour around saucepan and whisk butter and flour together until they become large crumbs.
Shake the container of tomato juice and add a little at a time, whisking until smooth. Try to get out all the lumps. Keep whisking until all the tomato juice is added.
Allow soup to heat then add sherry, salt & pepper (to taste) and sugar.
