Spring Clothes – Trending & Age Appropriate Part 1

I thought I would do a series on spring clothes that are appropriate for mature women AND on trend. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive! So many women my age (mid-fifties +) either dress too matronly and look much older than they are, or they dress like a teenager and look ridiculous. There is a happy and stylish middle ground.

Part 1’s spring clothes are from Ann Taylor. The store was founded in 1954 by Richard Liebeskind. Since the first store in New Haven, CT, Ann Taylor has grown to 242 retail and 122 outlets stores across North America. They have “a sophisticated, feminine approach to modern essentials” and their spring collection is no exception.

Spring Clothes – Tops

I gravitate towards separates. My shoulders and hips are different sizes so dresses always have to be altered. The colors and styles of these tops make them versatile. Dress them up with slacks or skirts. Pair them with jeans for a casual look. These just shout “SPRING”, don’t you think?!

Spring Clothes – Bottoms

Ann Taylor carries a wide variety of sizes and styles of pants. 3 leg shapes, 3 fits, 3 lengths, and 11 sizes from 00 to 18. What I really like about their pants is that their sizing and fit are consistent season to season.

As far as skirts go, I believe mini skirts are for young women. After age forty skirts should be at the knees or below. Period.

Shoes & Accessories for Spring Clothes

Besides being super cute, these shoes have heels 3 1/2″ or lower!

Top it Off – Jackets for Spring Clothes

Jackets and sweaters are a necessity year round. Light weight ones work well for spring and summer. Even if temperatures are on the warm side, air-conditioned restaurants & offices along with cool evenings call for a jacket. Why not make it a stylish one?

That wraps up Part 1. Come back for more spring fashions in Part 2! And remember: don’t let your age stop you from wearing the latest fashions. Just make sure they’re age appropriate.

By the way, I was not compensated by Ann Taylor for this post. All clothing lust and opinions are my own.

P.S. Ann Taylor is having an extra 40% off sale!!!
