What’s better than the melt-in-your-mouth goodness of a grilled cheese sandwich? I’m not talking about the kind for kids made with white bread and American cheese. This grilled cheese sandwich recipe is for grownups and made with delectable smoked cheddar cheese, hearty sourdough bread and lots of butter. Total. Comfort. Food. If you’re on a diet, better skip this one!
The Cheese Makes It Unique!
There’s a big difference in the taste of smoked cheddar cheese vs. regular cheddar cheese. You won’t find it on the cheese rack in your local supermarket. If your store has a specialty cheese section chances are you’ll find it there. This cheese would also make a killer macaroni & cheese!
Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
8 slices of Sourdough Bread
6 – 7 oz. Smoked Cheddar Cheese sliced
1-2 sticks of Butter
Makes 4 sandwiches
Butter all 8 slices of sourdough bread. Add smoked cheddar cheese slices to 4 of the sourdough bread slices and top with the other 4 slices of sourdough bread to make 4 sandwiches. Generously butter both outer sides of the sandwiches.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a pan over medium heat and swirl the butter to evenly coat the pan. Add in one of the buttered sandwiches. Flip the sandwich frequently to prevent scorching. If you’re using a larger pan and making more than one sandwich at a time, add more butter.
They ready when both sides are browned and the cheese is melted. Doesn’t that make your mouth water?
